Looking for work in Turku (English and French)

Post by AlanaB » Wed Nov 21, 2012 6:06 pm

I have recently moved to Turku from Canada. I have an EU passport and I am eager to begin working. I am fluent in both English and French (written and spoken). I have a Bachelor's degree in Physical and Health Education with a minor in French as well as a Bachelor of Education. I am a hardworking, dedicated, flexible and enthusiastic individual and would be an asset to any team.

My employment history has allowed me to excel in diverse and valuable positions, making me well-suited for many areas of employment. My work experience includes being a teacher, tutor, physiotherapist assistant, fitness and sports performance trainer, waitress, maintenance worker as well as retail experience.

I am wiling to provide references upon request. It would be mutually beneficial if you contacted me to further discuss work opportunities.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Alana

When a recruiter looks at this message he sees a self proclaimed perfect fit for any job.
But what he doesn't see is:
- Finnish language skills
- Finnish education/degrees
- masters degree
- experience details/experience in Finland.
And since most of the applicants on his desk do have those skills/degrees/experience, guess on what pile your application will end up.

Thank you for your input rinso. I realize that Finnish language skills and experience in Finland are crucial for employers, that is why I am using this forum as a way to look for advice and suggestions.
I would appreciate if you had any advice... Thank you for you help.

Suggestion is you enroll in an university as you're not qualified to teach without a proper "degree in education" which is a Master's, you have a good start and in an university you'd have also the chances to study Finnish to a level that enables you to then accept any qualified job. Of course, you can get a "temporary" job in a school, but unqualified teachers also get unqualified salary. As your degrees are non-EU you also would want to get them verified by the Ministry of Education as the first step.

1.As an entrepreneur in Europe you don't need qualifications.
2.There is a surplus of over qualified people here willing to work for an entrepreneur.
