I've just movedto Helsinki from Russia with my wife, who is working here. I have a permission to work, so I'm trying to find one, but unfortunately It seems to be hard.
I am a graphic designer with more than 5 years of experience. I am expert in working with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop). Besides that, I have an experience of working with Flash, Adobe Premiere, 3D Max, Corel Draw, and Microsoft Expression.
I have more than 5 years of experience of various creative design jobs: branding, graphic design, illustration, brochure design, and layout design. I have also worked as a graphical user interface designer. Besides that I have done some photography for catalogues and used to manage a group of 2 designers for about half a year. I hold a Specialist's degree (a traditional Russian degree between BA and MA) in Applied Computer Science in Design.
The problem is that I don't speak Finnish yet., although my English is quite fluent (109 on TOEFL iBT in February 2012). I am learning Finnish right now, but my speech seems to be far from good for working in Finnish.
Is it possible at all to find a designer job in English in Helsinki?
Can you give me any hints to help in my hard quest for employment?
