Residence permit application form as spouse/dependant

Post by flowert2ee » Thu Dec 27, 2012 10:07 pm

Hello everyone,
my husband recently got a job offer in Finland and we are going to apply for the Finnish residence permit. I looked around the immigration service website but didn't find the right application form for the situation as mine, as a dependant to the main applicant. The application form - "Residence permit application for the spouse of a foreigner resident in Finland, OLE_PH1" doesn't apply on my case because I am going to apply with my husband who hasn't had the residence permit yet.

I wonder if any one knows which application form I could use. Thank you very much guys! :D

Difficult time for you ,i am sure.
I am not 100% on every detail,but
To come into finland as a temp resident your husband needs to be your sponsor.
Until he can show the details needed your application will fail.

It seems you cant apply for spousal Res permit without your spouse actually being in the country.

Here is something very interesting that i found out only because my wife and I were in the same boat as you.

If your husband comes into Finland , gets his FIN ID number,TAX details,SALARY payments, then he would need to show all of those details for you to have a successful spousal application.Your application is in complete until he can show all of those, and maybe also he needs to provide a rent agreement.

If hes work contract is for 1 year then this is a problem for you, because your application will take some time to be considered and that means that there will only be 8,6 or 4 months left on his contract. This is not compulsory grounds for you to have a residence permit, and you will be left with visa options only.
This changes though if your husbands contract in more that 1 year as now there is somewhat compulsory grounds for you to receive a residence permit.

Send an email to migri stating all relevant details and ask for understanding on the best solution.

They explicitly state on their webpage that they don't (any more) answer email enquiries. A phone number is given here: http://www.migri.fi/services/telephone

Based on my experience, calling them is also a waste of time, they will just point you to the web page  I went to the info post in Helsinki once, and when I found a parking spot after 30 min, the girl there told me: ''All the info is on the web site'', and I was like:''What the f... are you doing here then??'' I also think that the proper way to do this is for your husband to apply on his own, and to wait for second 'A' permit. Now, you didn't share any details such as where are you coming from, what kind of job are your husband getting etc. Because it all has influence in some way...

Thank you all, guys! Excited to see your reply and information.

I phoned the Immigration Service using the number given by @Rip (thanks) and I was told that I would be able to apply with my husband using the application form OLE_PH1 and be processed simultaneously, although this form is intended for someone whose spouse has already had a residence permit. I would probably just fill in as much information as I could in that form and try my luck.

What I am worried at the moment is that, we are foreigners living in the UK and our UK residence permit would be curtailed to 60 days as soon as my husband resigns from his current job. We are planning to apply for the Finnish RP in the UK but not sure if our RP would be granted all together. If he is granted the RP first and moves to Finland, I would be not eligible to stay in the UK.

My question would be: will our RP would be granted at the same time? does anyone have any idea about the total processing time? I read the average processing time in 2011, but there is no specific information regarding my case.

As a background information, my husband got a job offer from a large Finnish company as special expert. We are foreigners living in the UK.

Thank you. Any help is very much appreciated!

This same impact was what my wife and I were facing. After many emails and phone calls, no one was determined to tell us whether my work permit and my wifes spousal permit was going to be processed at the same time and still meet my job start deadline. It was rather difficult.

No I don't think so ... The required salary is higher

How long have you submitted your application? How soon is your job going to start? My husband and I would have less than two month time to acquire a residence permit before my husband's job starts in Finland. The average processing time for "special expert" is around one month, that's how the contract was made based on this estimation. What I'm sure is that your wife's application would be processed the same time as yours which was confirmed by Immigration Service on the phone...

Just wondering, would you need a tourist visa for short term visit/stay (max three months) to Finland?

Yes we do need one. After submitting our passports/application to Finland Embassy, we will have to stay in the UK and wait for the decision.

We decided to not process together and i came here first. To be honest its a big step and to roll the whole show up into one bag means a big deal.

Looking at some dates i think my passport came back in 70-80 days.
It took 60+ days for decision of the employment office(i cant tell if your husbands job offer requires employment office ok),but if it does it requires some work from your employer and then a decision is made. Then all relevant details go to migri.

If its a big company then they know what to do before they get asked and maybe they know of a efficient process.
Knowing Finland , if the job offer is up-to or more than a year then that's a good opportunity to employ a specialist already in the FIN work registers.

Just wonder what type of employment you are involved in. I looked at the average processing time of all RP types in 2011, and the ordinary employment took 68 days while the "special" is 29 days. http://www.migri.fi/download/31583_Oles ... t_2011.pdf
