Danish learning finnish

I'm from Denmark and Danish is my native tongue. I have just started my journey on learning Finnish. For some reason I find it quiet easy, there are some similarities with a lot of the words. Not necessarily the spelling but with the pronunciation and the sounds of some of the words. Maybe it is just me!.

I'm just wondering how is the best way to get like an overall understanding of simple conversations and so on?.
