Auxiliary trade name

Post by The_SJB » Mon Mar 04, 2013 3:01 pm

Hello, I registered an auxiliary trade name about 10 days ago for my TMI and was wondering if anybody knows how long it takes before it appears in the company register.
The woman at the desk gave me 3 completely different answers within 1 minute. I am just getting paranoid that she has AGAIN messed up my documents. I am already 95€ down thanks to her..
Cheers

So you either register or establish the name by using it. No need to wait for registration. Maybe it is wise to wait before rushing to paint the car and order new work clothes, but registering domain names etc. shouldn't be too costly.

A couple of years ago I had a call from a woman who had registered a domain name for a company she was about to register with her husband. When they tried to register their company they were told there was already one with that name (mine). So they had to find another name. I'm not too sure why they called me or what they hope to achieve (unless they thought I might be intending to wind up my company...). Or maybe they just wanted to share their problem  . Anyway they later called me back and tried to sell me the domain name they had registered or something like that. Anyway I wasn't interested.

So sometimes it is worth doing things in the right order.

The name I chose was available so there should be no problem there (hopefully). I am just wondering why it doesn't show up yet in the YTJ bis-search.

I had actually selected 3 other auxiliary names when I first registered the company as it is free at that stage, or better, I had asked the same woman if I was filling in the correct spot in order to do so. Needless to say, I wasn't.

Hence I was just wondering if anybody here has registered auxiliary trade names in a second stage and how long it took for it to show up.

We registered auxiliary names 20 years after the original company was set up (ie in 2006). I don't remember ever checking when the details appeared in the BIS register (they are there now, I just checked!). But we started using them on invoices immediately, if I remember correctly. Asked my personal secretary and he doesn't remember either.
