Can anybody give me a ballpark figure for building a small (+-30sqm) log cabin (from a kit) in south-east Finland?
I will just have the builder build up the log frame, wooden roof structures and place windows and external doors on place. I'll finish it off from there...
I have been thinking about building a small cabin, but want to get an idea of the total costs before I invest too much time and energy into planning it.
Cabin Construction Costs
Re: Cabin Construction Costs
You can get a rough estimate by multiplying the costs of a self contained package by 3.
Much of the costs involve ground work, cables etcetera so it totally depends on the situation.

Re: Cabin Construction Costs
Yeah, the cabin itself is negligible... getting the permit is one cost with the plans and such. Then you get to the ground and the groundworks, the water/sewage/plumbing is one big cost - getting electricity/cabling a bit less... building a road is also on the list... there are options of course, a cabin on an island with no roads but they got the new "paskalaki" so thats the biggest obstacle.
So as far as costs, a 30m2 and a 300m2 may have the same initial costs... go figure the benefits of "modern times"

There's already a road and we don't have electricity or water. It'll really just be the foundation and initial setup work...
Re: Cabin Construction Costs
Turn key cabin would cost around 1200-1500 per m2 including foundation and closed off sewage system. But it is true for a cabin of approximately 50-80 m2.
What do you want from me?????
