I got a "warning" for calling you stupid. OK, you are not stupid, as that would offend stupid people having to count you in their midst.sentajazz wrote: It is very very unpleasant for me here, and other people that contacted me today.

That would be niceroger_roger wrote: 0% Corporate Tax, etc.
Education in Finland is pretty good.roger_roger wrote:Good education and Finland ? ha ha ha ha ha... Name a finnish university in top 100 of the world ? Have you studied in Finland? I can say Finland has a really good education system. And you can see in this forum there are people from all over the world applying for an university. If Finnish education isn't good, why so many people want to study here?roger_roger wrote:Good education and Finland ? ha ha ha ha ha...
Because it's free.Deni85 wrote:And you can see in this forum there are people from all over the world applying for an university. If Finnish education isn't good, why so many people want to study here?
Even their focus is on R&D rather than producing new research, they are still called University of Applied Sciencejahasjahas wrote:Most of the prospective students on this forum are applying for UASs, not universities
Just like in e.g. Germany.jahasjahas wrote:Because it's free.Deni85 wrote:And you can see in this forum there are people from all over the world applying for an university. If Finnish education isn't good, why so many people want to study here?
I doubt think the people posting here are representative for all students - intelligent people with proper English tend to find the information themselves.jahasjahas wrote:Most of the prospective students on this forum are applying for UASs, not universities, and their common characteristics are 1) bad English skills and 2) a "please help me with my entrance exam please" attitude.
You miss the point here.Oye wrote:Just for info, have to comment on the short term contract and no paid holidays such as summer or winter holidays (I think that is what the OP means?) as I didn't notice anyone else giving the correct info yet:
in a short term contract the holiday pay is typically included in your monthly pay check and that is completely legal. It it is not paid for monthly, it will (have to) be paid to you with your last pay check.
The problem is theres these stupid idiots online, on the street, in a work place, in school, everywhere. Yes, many Finns and foreigners. And if nobody tells them they are stupid, they will continue being stupid and one day something happens, maybe an accident or something worse they will get killed. Like its totally stupid to go happyslapping hairy bikers. And the poor kid dies, just because you didn't tell him it was stupid. Do you want to take that responsibility or are you a cruel darwinist? We already see what happens when stupidity is celebrated - just look at America!Oye wrote:One more thing, we can have different opinions, and some of us are more resourceful than others, some more ignorant, but as a Finn in Finland I definitively think it is NEVER OK TO CALL SOMEBODY STUPID!!! Stupid people discredit themselves, and there is no value in "discussing" rather than telling them. Though I always thought "stupid" was the politer term rather than calling someone an idiot - but newspaper headlines even do so, so apologies to any idiots I have misadvertently called stupid. If you call somebody stupid, is discredits you, and you definitively do not add anything of value to the discussion by doing that.
As did you. I just gave the general info, as I have found many foreigners do not know how this works here.Adrian42 wrote:You miss the point here
Not needed really. It may be stipulated in the contract, but may also not. If it is, everyone who can read, can see what it says, why pay a lawyer for that? The employee has in a short term contract right to get the money or the days off. if he hasn't gotten either one of them, first he should talk to the employer and agree on it, as there may just have been some sort of a confusion. If nothing happens, or the employee wants to have it some other way than the employer is offering, THEN talk to a lawyer and pay for it.Adrian42 wrote:Not sure whether a 4 month contract might stipulate that the holidays get paid out in money, that was one of the points where I suggested the OP could ask a lawyer to have a look at his contract.
You mean the kind of people without manners? They are the most stupid people in my opinion. Being more or less resourceful or ignorant has more to do with a background, opportunities and so on. There some kind advice may actually get them to change. Barking the advice out, however accurate, will not help, and you know that. You just get some sick satisfaction of playing the role of a meanie.Pursuivant wrote:The problem is theres these stupid idiots online
So if I now tell you that you are being stupid at the moment, will you stop? I can even tell you that you are being an idiot, if that makes you happier - and to stopPursuivant wrote:And if nobody tells them they are stupid, they will continue being stupid

Now avoiding the truth if it can hurt is the new "political correctness"?I definitively think it is NEVER OK TO CALL SOMEBODY STUPID!!!
.
As Bambis mother said: if you have nothing nice to say, you'd better not say anything.
Why then do they expect to be treated as resourceful and intelligent? Is it not that they do not realise they do not have the same background and thus opportunities? The problem is that people like you hide this fact from them and they start claiming its racism and whatnot, when it is usually a lack of skills.Being more or less resourceful or ignorant has more to do with a background, opportunities and so on.
Barking the advice out, however accurate, will not help, and you know that.
Yes, a big blue one. You get some sick satisfaction of "being nice" when thats just a disguise to the fact you know nothing. Ever aspired for a political career? You just get some sick satisfaction of playing the role of a meanie.
Understanding what things you have a right of receiving when working in a foreign country is nothing trivial (even for me as a German Finland has some WTF-are-they-smoking rules like the holiday qualification).Oye wrote:Not needed really.
