Bikes on Buses?

Hi all,

Might someone clarify whether it is okay to bring a bike onto an HSL bus? I've seen people do it in the past, but I've also seen one or two bus drivers scold and turn down would-be passengers who tried. And if bikes are not allowed on buses, how should one go about transporting a bike to the repair shop if it's too far to walk?
