Finland= my dream!
Hello Alla!

I'm 25 years old and i'm very tired of italy, there is no job and no possibility to do anything. So I've decided with my girlfriend to start this adventure. So...
Can you five me some information? My priority is KELA because i'm diabetic and it's very important that I work for 18hours/week for 4 mouth. I know that find job without speek finland is very hard but i haven't this problem: I can use my savings for survive in Helsinki(maybe Vantaa or Espoo) for the first 4-5 mouths and at the same time I can study Finnish.
I'll come to finland because is my dream. I know it will be hard, especially in the first mouth but... what is the alternative for an italian boy? the answer is:
M I S E R Y
So in this year I'll improve my english and i'll start to sent curricula everywhere.
Thanks All!!

4 - 5 months is much to short to find a job without Finnish language skills (and not perfect English).garaumatteo wrote:Hello Alla!

Also with money only to survive such a short time there is a big chance the police will not register you as a resident.
(and remember Finland is much more expensive than Italy)
Think very carefully about it because your dream might turn out to be a nightmare.
Re: Finland= my dream!
As rinso already explained, 4-5 months are not enough.garaumatteo wrote:I know that find job without speek finland is very hard but i haven't this problem: I can use my savings for survive in Helsinki(maybe Vantaa or Espoo) for the first 4-5 mouths and at the same time I can study Finnish.
Are you receiving unemployment benefits in Italy? If yes, then you could continue to receive these for 3 months while searching for a job in Finland.
The economic crisis caused by the people in Southern Europe spending more money than they have is now also reaching Finland, with frequent news of Finnish companies laying off people.garaumatteo wrote:I'll come to finland because is my dream. Realistically, it might be a few years until you will find your first job.
And Finland is quite different from Italy:
The people are quite different, not talking much.
And even though it is now April, you can still go walking and skiing on the frozen Baltic Sea.
In a proper winter, the temperature might stay at constant -20 °C night and day for a month.
And for 3-5 months everywhere you walk in town, you will usually walk on several cm of ice.
Only 5 hours between sunrise and sunset on Christmas Eve.

Re: Finland= my dream!
So, you prompt me: to go or not to go? I can stay in finland without working one year...more or less.
I would like to come in finland the next year... in this time I will study english (only english!!!). I asked to Embassy Italian in Finland some information about Finnish language and the reply was: "It's better to study finnish here ( when you'll be here) than in italy".
Winter and cold are not a problem.
Thanks for help me.

There are so many foreigners like you already here desperately looking for a job, lowering your chances significantly.garaumatteo wrote:So, you prompt me: to go or not to go? I can stay in finland without working one year...more or less.
Why do you actually want to move to Finland?
The UK has an unemployment rate similar to Finland, but speaking English is enough there.
Germany and Austria have unemployment rates much lower than Finland.
If your aim is to move to a country where you have good chances of finding a job, then Finland is a bad choice.
Re: Finland= my dream!
As other ones said, it is not easy to find a job here if you don't speak Finnish and even harder if you don't speak fluent English. Finnish language is not easy to learn. Some people only speak basic Finnish after spending a whole year studying the language and this is not enough to find a job.

What can you do? What can't you do? Put yourself in shoes of someone hiring. Why would s/he choose you over someone else.garaumatteo wrote:So...you don't wont me

I don't know what country would be top notch for diabetes treatment, but I don't think Finland is better (or worse) than most other western countries. There are probably differences between countries in how much it will end up costing, but at least for the Nordic countries that should be more or less the same. So... why did you choose the country with more or less the hardest language and also one of the most expensive in Europe?garaumatteo wrote: Because i'm from Sardinia and Finland is like my country for diabetes skills...
I would suggest you first concentrate on finding a job... anywhere in Europe! If it turns out to be Finland, then great! Welcome! But otherwise, moving without a job, you are just going to use up all your savings, and when they run out you will end up back where you came from.

Yes, why would Finland want you? That isn't meant as mean. But what can you offer Finland? No language skills, obviously rather sick because you keep mentioning it and no job. So why would Finland want you?
I agree with the other poster.... I wonder if you just want to come here because you can get free healthcare or something? I don't know. But there are many Fins with great educations, speaking Finnish, English, Swedish etc, who can't find jobs. Why do Finnish people want to help you if they are having trouble helping their own kind these days?

This is extremely simplistic!!!Adrian42 wrote:

To say that the crisis is caused by PEOPLE spending more mone than they have is to oversimplify the causes of a complicated issue. Saying that the laying off of the finnish companies is due to the southern europeans is just a blatant lie.
Maybe the downfall of Nokia has something to do with the laying offs ?
Re: Finland= my dream!
It beats me why so many foreigners want to come to live in Finland! My dream! What is it they expect here, paradise? Where do they get there info from? Wants to live here because of he is diabetic! Strange, why not an english speaking country like the UK, work is there if you really want it, and free health care also.garaumatteo wrote:Hello Alla!

Why would Finland want Italians? To make Finland into a 2nd Italy? Do you bring sunshine and lemon trees, or hands like windmills?So...you don't want me

The debt of Greece was for ages already higher than the 60% of GDP Greece was committed to in the Eurozone, but the PEOPLE of Greece were still voting for politicians promising to spend more money.gfunho wrote:This is extremely simplistic!!!Adrian42 wrote:

Three times (1994, 2001 and 2008) did the PEOPLE of Italy make Silvio Berlusconi their leader.
And at this year's election, the majority of the PEOPLE voting in Italy voted for one of the two clowns as their leader.
Nearly half of the last 20 years was Silvio Berlusconi Prime Minister. During that time he seems to have been more busy with avoiding having to go to jail than improving the economy of Italy and keeping the budget of Italy under control. And with bunga bunga. But this year 29% of the PEOPLE of Italy voted to get him back as their leader.
Take a look at Estonia or Latvia - in comparison to Greece or Italy these are very poor countries, but instead of whining the PEOPLE there are re-electing politicians who implemented serious salary cuts.
No, it is a blatant fact.gfunho wrote:Saying that the laying off of the finnish companies is due to the southern europeans is just a blatant lie.
That was a big blow for the Finnish economy, but the layoffs at Nokia and related to Nokia were mostly in 2011 and 2012.gfunho wrote:Maybe the downfall of Nokia has something to do with the laying offs ?
The current bad economic situation in the EU is caused by the people in Southern Europe (and it is so bad that even the German economy is starting to get affected!).
Re: Finland= my dream!
I would say in the context of "So...you don't want me - So why would Finland want you?" that was a fair comment.FloydFin wrote:I'm a diabetic myself and I came to Finland with no language skills and "rather sick" as you would like to call it and was able to get a high paying job. So mentioning his sickness as a disadvantage is very cruel.Flossy1978 wrote:No language skills, obviously rather sick because you keep mentioning it and no job.
We already have high unemployment in Finland. So someone from Italy coming to Finland is treated in a fair way,but is clearly not "wanted" - if he gets any job, then that might have otherwise gotten to one of the many unemployed Finns.
And having a chronic disease that causes constant costs for KELA doesn't make him more "wanted".
Finland is a country where he will be treated in a fair way following the relevant EU legislation, but Flossy is 100% correct in pointing out that there is absolutely no reason why Finland would want him to come.
Unless he is a registered nurse or has another desperately wanted qualification - he didn't mention anything about his qualifications so far. You got a high-paid job in Finland, so you clearly had wanted qualifications.
