Not all of them were brought for humanitarian reasons. Some were brought for cheap labor (e.g. - the Turkish immigrants in Germany). As for my compatriots, they have done fairly well in the west professionally/financially in comparison to other immigrants-there are exceptions of course. I suspect that this is due to the high value placed on educational achievement in our cultures. Nevertheless, the point I am trying to make here is that immigrants from Islamic countries seem to have more toxic reactions to western culture than does someone from say latin america-not too many mexicans out there planning a jihad. It is obvious that there is a problem but I do not know what the solution is.

I was only asking some questions and the poster went ballistic. I asked what I thought were innocent questions because I've never met an atheist from a Arab country and wanted to learn something more about it from a person who's living such a life. As all I've ever read and seen on telly is oppression and awful things happening, especially to women. Naturally not a lot of good comes from that part of the world because the West wants us all to think it's such an awful place. But I am certain there must be some good stuff too, it can't really be all so terrible.

What kind of person are you? If you are responding in such a manner to questions simply asking how it is there for you?

Its an old soviet communist plot to overthrow the west. Like they established the greens to destroy the industry in the West, now the Chinese are benefitting. Basically, the stupid "useful idiots" like socialists and greens wanting to destroy the conservative society by bringing in "color" and "multiculture" onto the streets. They only didn't realise what they brought in was more antisemite, homophobic, misogynistic and conservative to the hilt they could imagine the "conservative society" they wanted to fight against ever was. Good examples around Europe they don't like their own outcome. In Holland they had an election in one town and the socialists took all the "multicultural" candidates onto their list to show how liberal they were... well, the "multiculturals" got elected and booted out all the native socialists from the council and started running things "like at home" with no "liberal" undertones at all - segregated schools etc. ...

Namely, only visible in bit darker skin and unusual hair for this part of world. She had no contact with her paternal side in decades I think, and when she finally did visit his country of origin she more or less said "Not my thing".

So she is very much Finn through and through, and thus should not be used as an example in cases like this to avoid giving false impressions to people.

Since Christians are so welcoming, they allowed Muslims/Islams into their countries and it was them who overtook Christianity in barbaric ways. I thought originally Iran, Iraq etc were actually Christian states. Iranians are ethnically Persian, at least in theory. However there's been a lot of migration. The "average" Persian appearance, the language and linguistic history, the cultural history, and the political history are all different from the Arab(ian) ethnicity. There is some overlap in religious history but even that is separate. It's hard to generalize (correctly) about appearance, but you might see more of an Aegean influence. They come from people who were mostly north of the Mediterranean as opposed to Semitic tribes who were mostly south of it.

So yes they're Middle Eastern but they're not Arabian.

hello everyone,
how's everyone doing?

im new here so excuse me if I made a mistake.

I'm 16 years old in high school (engineer student) and i want to move to finalnd
when I turn 18 years old (and of course when i finish high school)

I speak Arabic, Farsi, Hebrew, Esperanto and English fluently
and learning Swedish, Russian and Finnish


i chose Finland because everything is great about it, history, culture , people etc.

I've 2 quesions here
1-will Finns accept me? I'm middle eastern Arab with dark white color.
2-what's the easiest way to immigrate to Finland (other than marrying a native Finnish because i don't think Finnish guys are interested in other races specially Arabs)

As another middle eastern,i can give you some advices.
Your language skills wont work in Finland,there are some minorities who speaks arabic or farsi but thats it.Only Finnish and Russian(if you are work in touristic places or close to border) is accepted in Finland.After all Russia is still one of the biggest trade partners of Finland.

Yes this country is fascinating but its not *heaven* at all.There is a book about Suomi about culture shock,you can get it from amazon.And there is another book written by an american called *how to marry with a finnish woman*,its all about life in Suomi from an american's perspective.Both are very nice books.

Finnish people is very different than many other people.Especially if you come from middle east,you will experience HUGE cultural shock(more than westerners).My best friends are finnish and lets just say they still surprise me.

You might be atheist(me too),but still you have middle eastern mentality.Its a disadvantage in Finland since people will have hard time understanding you.

1)Finns are quite reserved people.As long as you are honest(even brutally honest,which is finnish thing and i love) and kind,i dont think you will have difficulty.Of course there are racists here too.Just stay away from them.
Honesty can be quite hard since middle eastern people are not really honest.
Many finns dont have a lot of friends(less than 10 actually) and even fewer best friends.You have to work hard to be friends with them.But when they trust ya,they always stay by your side.

2)Studying is easiest way.Meanwhile you have to learn fluent finnish+make connections to have a chance to find a job.If you are qualified and have degrees from finnish uni.'s(master degree is important),you can get a job.Finnish employers care more about diploma's than experience and connections are VITAL.
