My RP extension is in process but need to travel abroad

Hi.I'm Thai.I started to working in Finland since last year and my renewal RP is in process which I don't know when it will be approve.
My old RP card is going to expire in a few days but I really need to go to my home country in the beginning of June.
My grandfather passed away and there has a lot of paper,certificate stuffs that I have to back there and manage it.
But I called to the police office and it seems it will take longer than that until I get my RP card.
Is there anyway that I can back to my home country and re-entry or anyway I can do to be back to Finland again after that.
I'm really stress about this situation and I don't know what to do =( Should I make a visa to other country in Shengen and get in by that? will it work?

This country is so rigid to have that luxury. If I recall correctly, they used to have a kind of reentry visa but its no longer available.

Re-entering Finland is not the biggest problem.
Getting on board a plane to the EU might prove impossible.
Airlines check if you have a valid RP or visa and they can refuse you.
Paperwork that says the application is being processed will not be accepted.
If you leave you have to wait the decision in Thailand I'm afraid.

I just got my decision about my RP extension and the letter said that I must appear in person or give someone power of attorney to pick up the RP card on my behalf and trade in the old one. Keep that in mind if you decide to wait in Thailand for the decision to come through, that the police probably won't mail the new card to you there.

Hi.
Maybe off topic, but this thread reminded me of what happened to me about ten years ago.
I was back from the UK (three year sojourn) and my RP renewal was in process (Vantaa police got my passport).
I was working for a mobile phone company and I wanted to be able to travel at any time, so I wrote about my situation
and sent it to Helsingin Sanomat opinion page. On the day it was printed, Vantaa police called me and told me that the RP was
ready and my passport was ready to pick up.

Thanks so much for all the comments.I talked to my boss and he had a call with police officers.
He'll pick up the card for me but i have to sign the paper to give him the right to do that
and he'll send to me to Thailand which is really kind of him.
Now I have new question.My residence permit is going to expire soon and it will be almost a month before i leave the country.
When I go to the airport in any Shengen countries (i'm looking for the cheapest ticket which may out from Europe in Amsterdam or somewhere else)
Will they count me as 'Overstay'? I have the paper to say that I can live in the country though but I think the paper only valid in Finland only

Now I'm just worrying about getting out.

Well, I'm not sure how it will go for you, but when I left Finland for a weekend in London in January, they did check my RP card after looking at my passport in the Helsinki airport and then verify that I had a valid residence permit before I could pass through to the gate.

I'm sure they will let you leave, but (only guessing here) put a note in the computer that you left without a valid Residence Permit.

- If you can show at the Finnish border that your application is being processed they will not consider you overstaying.
- Boarding a plane however is a different question. You'll depend completely on the desk clerk if he is lenient or strict. And airports outside Finland may even be more problematic.
(If you are refused entry, the airline is responsible to transport you to a place where you're welcome. They try to avoid that risk)

Thanks again for all the helps.I called passport control officer today(a lot of phone calls in these days).
He said that I won't have a problem if I'm going straight home by going out from Finland airport.
I'll be fine with the paper i have and It won't be a problem.He said If I'm going out to my home country with another EU country airlines.
I may in a big trouble.So I have to buy ticket which will go to Thailand from Helsinki.

thanks so much again for all the helps. I moved to Finland because I got a job offer and totally alone here.
(the town I'm living is very small and quiet) I have a pretty hard time to find friends and because of we are small company.
We didn't have many workers.I am only a woman at office and all the men just not social persons.It's pretty rough to be alone abroad.
It makes me really stress when I can't get any helps when I needed.

Sadly it's really true

Even though we are in the same office and sit next each others .We are using skype for communicate all the work stuffs.
We only talk in the meeting which not happen a lot.After work everyone just back their place. Anyway If you guys need any help about Thailand.
please feel free to ask.I'd love to help people have a great time in my country. It's a good place for vacation.
