Renewal of UK passport, please advise
Renewal of UK passport, please advise
Hi all,
I am new and need some advice.
I am looking to renew my UK passport as soon as possible. Problem is the only person I know who knows me long enough to countersign the application form for me, won't give his Finnish passport number. What am I supposed to do? I don't have anyone else to countersign the form, here in Finland or in the UK. This is really worrying me as obviously I need some form of identification. Does the countersignatory have to give his passport number, even if it is not a UK or Irish one?
Thanks for your help, look forward to your reply.

If you are renewing a passport, do you really need a countersignature on the application form? I didn't

I don't look the same as I did 10 years ago, unfortunately, so apparently someone needs to sign a photo of me and the formKarhunkoski wrote:If you are renewing a passport, do you really need a countersignature on the application form? I didn't

Have you actually read the application form and guide lines that are on the UK Gov site?
A ‘countersignatory’ will need to fill
in this section if you are applying:
•for a first British passport
•to replace a lost, stolen or damaged passport
•to renew a child passport (if the child is aged 11
or under), or
•to renew a passport (adult, or child aged 12
to 15 years) if you cannot be recognised from
the photograph in your current passport, or to
extend a passport
SO if you are simply renewing an existing adult passport then no counter signature is required.

I've already replied to this hours ago, but it seems my comment is still awaiting approval. I don't look like I did 10 years ago, so I will need a countersignature on one photo and the form.
I don't believe the maistraatti will just hand a stranger their passport number.
Any other advice much appreciated and thanks to those who've already answered me.

Um, you replied 1 hour and 1 minute ago. Give the mods chance to have a little free time too

Well you can write any damn number on it, after all, where exactly the f* they going to verify it against? Besides which I thought you needed the postman or bartender to sign it.Problem is the only person I know who knows me long enough to countersign the application form for me, won't give his Finnish passport number. What am I supposed to do?
