Beer from Alko
I've heard here and there rumours, but never nothing sure about it. Since it's forbidden for shops to sell any alcohol over 4,8%, one can never find much selection of imported beer, just what Alko offers, which is in my opinion too little and too predictible. What I've been told is that you can address Alko and make them bring you at a reasonable market price a big load of what you ask. Big load because evidently you are the one and only person interested in that especific product. Can someone give me some light about it?

With beer that will be cost prohibitive: they deliver by the case and add 40e/different case for s&h. You can ask for quote at http://www.alko.fi/tuotekyselylomakemblanco2702 wrote:I've heard here and there rumours, but never nothing sure about it. With beer their sales margin is 65%, add taxes and that 40e and you are looking at 100e/case (of 20 or 24) easily.

1. Buy a brewing bucket plus hoses, sanitations liquid, etc.
2. Save up empty plastic fizzy pop bottles, cider bottles, etc.
3. Buy a brew kit (strongly recommend the top-end kits with two cans of gunk, rather than the single can cheap kits)
4. Get brewing.
5. Bottle and wait
6. Drink
If you need advice on where to buy all the bits, just ask.
The results of these top-end brew kits are really rather excellent. Some are comparable to the guest ales you find in bars. The prices for the kits are ok in Finland and because of the high beer prices here for decent ales, the benefits of brewing your own are even bigger.

Political correctness is the belief that it's possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

+1 for that ^
Although you can use the signal can kits with success, they just need some tweaking. I save glass bottles and use those instead of soda bottles. The crimper isn't that much and the caps are cheap.

You can buy the buckets, piping and sanitiser from Prisma. Brew kits from there too, although only the single can versions.roger_roger wrote:I need advice on brewing kit, which brand and any guess price ? and place too...Karhunkoski wrote:If you need advice on where to buy all the bits, just ask.
But maybe the best choice is:
www.kotiviini.fi
You can get everything from them. I can strongly recommend the Munton's Gold range of brewkits.

Good advice, only if I had the space and the time for it... Well, mainly the space, time can always be found.
Anyway, back to my question, is it true? Is Alko forced to deliver that service since they are a monopoly?

There are also a couple of online shops with good equipment & ingredient selection:roger_roger wrote:I need advice on brewing kit, which brand and any guess price ? and place too...Karhunkoski wrote:If you need advice on where to buy all the bits, just ask.

More likely Nalle Wahlroos wanted some exact wine for his party and Alko needed a way to fulfill his wishes.

Then I don't see why couldn't I make myself send a load of beer that they refuse to provide, of course after getting a denial from them.
Re: Beer from Alko
No need to wait for denial. Just follow the rules and pay the taxes. Or don't pay taxes if you order the beer from brewery A and pay them, then order the transport (your beer now, so you are both sender and recipient) from company B and pay them. And remember that selling the beer is forbidden, without licence.mblanco2702 wrote:Then I don't see why couldn't I make myself send a load of beer that they refuse to provide, of course after getting a denial from them.
