Any American Homeschoolers in Finland?

We have a 9 and 7 year old homeschooler and was wondering if there's any other americans homeschooling their kids in Finland?

So you want to limit choices of your children because presumptions and prejudices you have, they will thank you.... In where they learn finnish?
By your nick i can see your problem but did you know that most of even highly religious and bigoted people let kids go in normal school?

Basically, while its allowed, you must follow the national curriculum. Including languages etc. So it might prove challenging. Homeschooling isn't really mainstream (maybe under 50 families) and the MinEdu seems to be wanting to follow Sweden in banning it. The county you live in appoints a controlling teacher that comes and assesses the education, depending on the county how familiar they are with homeschooling your experience may vary. Theres some websites like www.kotikoulu.net for homeschoolers, but as you can see, there is that slight language issue...

Hello! I did homeschool our children for one year (two years ago.) It is a challenge, but can be done. Probably depends on the principal of the local school how much grief you are given about it. I will check my records (and my memory!) from my homeschooling year, and can forward a ladies phone number to you, who does homeschool in English, but is not American (has lived there, though.) You DO have the right to homeschool, and in English. I love homeschooling, and did so for a 'de-stress' year for our children due to circumstances at the time - now they are in a great Finnish school. Some things I miss about homeschooling, though.

I am new to this forum - can you see how to pm me? We could visit more about this!
