Junkyard, Scrapyard... anywhere to get a decent car seat?

Post by AsaSmith » Tue May 07, 2013 4:20 am

I was hoping someone more accustomed to the Finnish language or a Helsink/Vantaa/Espoo local might chip in and help a guy out. I'm looking for a second hand car seat, it really doesn't matter which car so long as its either reasonably sporty (ie a bucket seat or something race worthy) or failing that a half decent leather one would do. Its not going in a car by the way ;)

I live in Tapanila and have tried my local guy who doesn't speak a word of English (not his fault its just a pain in the ass) from http://www.sapoma.fi but he doesnt have anything that matches the description

I have also tried searching with the words Romu and Piha but havent gotten any luck, also junkyard and scrapyard dont produce any decent results. Is there a place that anybody knows just to get a seat?

I have this place to try tomorrow Autovahinkokeskus Oy Espoo 010 773 7530 but apart from this place which is a real distance from me as I'll be carrying this seat by hand I'm a bit stuck

The only other 2 posts I found on here didn't produce much either, any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Indeed I am well put together and thanks for the tip! What a cracking deal that you found on that racing seat! I'm considering not building this:

And just buying that seat you showed me! :D

I'll price both options up as I've just called the PVC company and I'm going to get a quote but that really does look like an attractive deal... godamn my wallets burning!

Do you have one yourself? Is it good and sturdy?

No, it was just a first google hit I got. I've got no room for one, sadly.

Ok I ended up buying the seat you suggested Upphew! Thanks a bunch for grabbing that for me, I don't think I'd have found that deal without you. You probably saved me 100 Euro there buddy :D

Beers are on me :beer_yum:

http://en.varaosahaku.fi/ is a good place to search through a laege portion of Finnish junkyards. It's pretty intuitive to use, you choose your car, then what section and so on until you've narrowed it down.
