Hi Forum,
Q1) How much does it cost to give birth to a child in a public hospital in Finland if both parents are covered under the national health insurance scheme of Finland and have valid Kela cards?
Any one has knowledge about the current total cost?
Q2) Is the total cost the same for Vaginal Birth and Cesarean Section? Any info about this?
Q3) Epidural anesthesia is one of the most popular methods of pain relief. So, I wanna ask, Is this popular in Finland too? If the woman (Who's giving birth requested it), Will there be any extra charge?
Thanks loads !
I would really appreciate your inputs !

Thanks a lot Upphew for the link, It is a great guide. However, I didn't see any info regarding the costs ($$) ?
So, I will be thankful for anyone who could provide answers to my three questions above.

Father's coverage is irrelevant. The mother pays a daily fee for each day that she is (even partly) in the hospital, about 30 € each day. That yall. If the father opts (and the hospital allows it) to stay at the hospital 24h/day (family room) he'll pay the same charge.Samer2010 wrote:Hi Forum,

Only difference is that with section the mother is likely to stay 1-2 days more (so about 30-60€ euro more)Q2) Is the total cost the same for Vaginal Birth and Cesarean Section? Any info about this?
