Hi, I live in Helsinki as a foreigner and now I get a job in Germany and applying for german residence permit from Helsinki. There are several requirements that I have to fullfil in order to apply for German residence permit. One of them is "English form of the Finnish registration confirmation issued by the Finnish City
Council with specification of the address ("virkatodistus")". Can you please help me what is Finnish registration confirmation and how can I get it from Finnish City council? And how much time will it take to receive it?

Ask for "virkatodistus" in English. You should be able to get it while waiting there. I guess it is possible to get it even without visiting them, but I don't know about the details.

The paper costs probably something around five euros.

You call the maistraatti, tell what you want and why. Or if you go down to Albertinkatu and queue up and wait. You can get it apostilled as well for an extra charge.
