research for 4 months: which kind of visa?

Post by yulya258 » Wed Jun 12, 2013 4:06 am

My husband received a Fulbright scholarship to do research in Finland for 4 months. I wonder what kind of visa we should apply? If it is a residence permit, the fee is probably too high because we are a family of four and the fee is above $600 (per person?). Could you please help us specify what kind of visa is for my husband and for his family members? How long does it take to process these visas? Thanks.

Information regarding the Residence Permit for your husband:

Regarding you and your children, you can stay for 3 months either with a visa or visa-free (depending on your nationality). Staying for 4 months would require applying for a Residence Permit for family members, so it sounds more reasonable that your husband is for 1 month alone in Finland.

The university where your husband will conduct his research likely has someone who can also give advice in such matters.
