Seriously?

I just had my son's hair cut a mere 1cm off all over and it cost me a freaking 30€!!! And I live way outside of Helsinki, Nurmijärvi. In a town where there are more hairdressers than any other store, including supermarkets! And still it cost so freaking much.

Goodluck!

^ Heh, welcome to Finland.
Buying a electric trimmer seems cheaper for a long run. I bought me a beard trimmer which I usually use it on my head every week

I bought a philips hair/beard trimmer and decided instead of a hippie I'll look a suedehead... depends the next time I need to go to a job interview or work with an uptight company I might go hippie again.

I got a "haircut" for 20 euros in Ruoholahti mall. A nice looking black lady removed my hair with a trimmer with very fast, hectic movements (fast enough to be actually painful). There were many inconsistencies and lack of symmetry in the final result so we spent another 10 minutes fixing those under my guidance. I laughed the whole time, it somehow reminded me of a documentary I saw on NG about sheep shearing. By the way, for the 20 euros I even got my beard trimmed (it was too big to go for a shave directly). So actually I think the haircut was 13 and 7 for the beard. I left her 5 euros tip as I thought I might have been within the first 10 customers she ever had.

actually I think 20,- is not too expensive for Finland and Helsinki area.
You must start to realize that also they pay 24% VAt, means 16,13 net and they do have still rent, electricity, water, heating, products, employees (even if those get only 10,- per hour it means 20,-/hour for the employer), fees, when somebody pays by card, fees, when bringing cash to the bank to put on companies account, insurances, furniture and and and ... .

Do not get me wrong, I'm pretty fed up with prices in here for bad services, but as business person I started very soon to realize how difficult it is to survive in here and keep going, when offering normal prices AND still good service.

MRoom has a members card. For 330EUR a year you can get your hair cut as often as you please in any of their 30 shops. If you like to get your hair cut every 2 weeks, it's a pretty sweet deal.
