Toy Lending Library

Post by CdnGirl » Wed Jun 05, 2013 7:54 pm

Hi,
We are moving to Finland for the year at the end of July (yeah!). We have housing, work & daycare figured out. And thanks to the prior posts here I know that I don't need to worry about bringing English language books for the year. I am still wondering what to do about toys. We have three boys-1, 3 & 5. There was an earlier post about a toy lending library, but the information was rather dated so any up-to-date information would be appreciated.

For example, do any of the libraries lend toys? Are there any fee-based toy lending programs?

Trying to have an answer for the boys about why they can't bring suitcases full of toys with them :)

thanks!

Some libraries lend out eg. board games and sports equipment. Where are you moving to? Some of the libraries in the Helsinki region seem to have kids costumes in their collections.

The system that I know where you get for a few euros to use toys that other people have already played with (but are still typically in good condition) is called "flea markets"

Thanks. We are trying to avoid purchasing lots of toys, even used, but it may come to that. The info about the sports equipment is great. We'll be living downtown near Aalto University.
