Could you both live somewhere else? I suppose you're luckier than most in that you can freelance if you don't find anything, but as I'm sure you know you'll be a lot more comfortable doing that in Portugal, Spain or even the UK than you would in Finland.

Does your boyfriend speak Portuguese or Spanish?

I can understand your love for Finland (and your boyfriend). But remember that the love can be fragile if there is this day to day financial struggle.
Finding a job will be very difficult as you already experienced.
You might set up as a sole trader and try to get some free lance work. But without (near) fluent Finnish you'll struggle to find customers.

I've been looking through and through in every single website (MOL, Monster, ejobs.fi, EURES) and even getting some support from EURES advisors. I've sent a lot of CVs and presentation letters but sadly received almost no replies; the few I got were negative.
In the current bad economic situation with frequent layoffs, even for Finns it is not easy to find a job.

You do not yet speak Finnish, and that makes it most likely that you will spend the next 1-2 years without a job learning Finnish - there are thousands of people in Finland in exactly the same situation as you are.

Your well/reservoir of love will quickly dry when you will see downtown of Helsinki in any weekend full of drunks, unruly teens, pissing dude just right next to "keep the city clean" sign. If you are lucky then you might find someone defecating in public or puking with a hint of pride all over their faces. The abused french fries and empty packets of McDonalds lying and flying around are quite common sight during those nights.
...and no we are not talking about homeless people. We are talking about folks from (supposedly) decent families in here.

The northern and central part of Finland is gorgeous...though not as lovely as Northern Norway
