I moved in Finland in 2009 as a student.I will be graduating in Dec this year.I have been working and earning good salary from the same company since Dec 2010.Unfortunately I don`t have a permanent contract coz am still a student and thus still holding a student permit which is due to expire in August.Iam from a non-eu country.My Boyfriend has a permanent and well paying job and had applied for his citizenship in April (decision not yet).He is also from non-eu country.We have been together since year 2010 but moved in the same adress from Dec 2011 when we bought our apartment shared 50-50.

I want to extend my residence based on family ties but my question is: Will they consider my application bearing in my mind that we have not cohabitted for two years? and will the issue of owning an apartment together be an additional advantage?

Cohabitation or two years or marriage. If you don't have one of those the application will be considered and easily decided by officials: permission denied. Ownership has little to do with that, unless they are shares of a company (housing or not) that generates enough revenue for your living. And even then the RP based on family ties won't fly.

If I quit my job(no permanent contract), will I recieve financial support from the government considering I have been working and studying or will my spouse income affect the amount of money I have to recieve? The reason as to why I want to quit my job is to concentrate in learning the finnish language. Am studyng in the Health Care Sector and I want to work in my proffesion of study.

Do you belong to a union? Getting anything from kela will be nearly impossible now for you, unless you get that RP based on family ties. Getting that will mean marriage.

No, you have to either wait until the 2 years have passed or marry him.

No, it will not help you with the 2 year limit.

You have a job with a good salary - most foreigners will be very jealous.

You had that job besides your studies, and your studies end at the end of the year.

Why don't you extend your Residence Permit based on your studies, continue in your current job with the good salary, and learn Finnish besides your job after your studies are finished?

You might be eligible for unemployment benefits when your studies are finished, but you would not be eligible for integration assistance.

If you are eligible for unemployment benefits and register as an unemployed job-seeker, you are forced to take jobs or participate in whatever labour market programs the unemployment office wants to put you into.

Especially as she will have fresh degree, no use to put her to some it course or something like that, when the language will most likely be the skill that limits her employability now. But your point stands: they might dump her just to any course to keep statistics nice and clean.

An unemployment funds won't help.
As long as she is studying (and therefore not available for a full-time job), she is anyway not eligible for unemployment benefits.

My main point was actually that she would not be eligible for a multi-year integration plan when she has finished her studies.

They could still put her into a language course, but they could also put her at any time into a job or whatever labour market program they consider suitable.
Different from an integration plan the main objective would not be to integrate her into Finnish society, but to get her into any job as soon as possible.

Easiest is to extend your study permit till December. You can even extend it till 6 months after graduation to search for a job.
By that time you fulfill the 2 year cohabitation requirement.

But after these 6 months, you will have a degree from Finland (making it easy to get a Residence Permit for a full-time job) and 2 years of cohabitation with a Finnish citizen (making it easy to get a Residence Permit based on family ties).

At the moment you have no degree from Finland and only a part-time job.
That's not a good situation for applying for a Residence Permit based on work.
