Hi Adrian,

Yeah, she did filed an application for permit and she cant recalled which form she was using since it was 15 years ago (i think the law might have some changes too).
Looking on the website, i think i should fill the OLE_MUU since i dont fall under either one of the categories of the rest of the forms. I need to check on that.

I called the Embassy of Finland in Kuala Lumpur today and she is not being helpful at all. :(
Kept telling me to go to the embassy website and read before calling back. She even told me that there are no such A or B permit.

Embassies are glorified post offices in residence cases. All the information and knowledge and indeed decisions too are in migri.fi
As can be seen with the A and B permit... http://www.migri.fi/residence_permits/permit_types
http://google.com http://translate.google.com http://urbandictionary.com
Visa is for visiting, Residence Permit for residing.

Hi FloydFin,

From the site, i fall under the "other ground" category.
http://www.migri.fi/coming_to_finland_on_other_grounds

and from the FAQ which direct me to the OLE_MUU form
http://www.migri.fi/services/faq/reside ... its/family

I do not fall under the OLE_PH1 as we did not stay together for 2 years and not spouse. :(

Hi Upphew,

Yes, i do know there are two types of permit.

Your boyfriend is Finnish, and pretty sure he could ring to immigration office if you need an urgent information. Folks here try their best but replies in an internet forum do take sometime.
What does he gotta say in this whole affair? Because, in worst case scenario, if he is of no help despite being a native then there is a tough way ahead of you.

OLE_MUU us for "special cases" say you are the maharaja and have your weight in gold.
You are not a "special case". You read the rules - the answer is "no". You just "want" is not enough. You waste the money. Wait and apply say for a student RP when the rules say "yes"... you have a higher probability of success.

It says:
You may also apply for a residence permit on other special grounds. Other special grounds may be, for example, a stable intimate relationship and the intention to marry or that you have become a victim of human trafficking.

It is true that if you have any chance of a Residence Permit based on your bf, it is this one.
I wouldn't completely rule out that you could get that one, but I am not too optimistic about that.

Other things to keep in mind regarding this Residence Permit:

With this Residence Permit you are not allowed to work in Finland even if you would find a job.

The income requirement applies (note that even though it is called "Income Requirement", it would have to come from your savings since you would not be allowed to work in Finland) :
http://www.migri.fi/moving_to_finland_t ... equirement
When you apply for a residence permit on the basis of a personal relationship or the intention to marry, the income of the partner in the personal relationship living in Finland is not taken into account because, according to the Finnish law, you are not considered to be family members. The funds necessary to fulfill the income requirement (1. adult/€1,000/month) must be freely available, for example through your own bank account.
Processing time for this Residence Permit is usually between half a year and one year, and you are not allowed to stay all the time in Finland while waiting for the decision (except for the 90 days in 6 months).
