I've heard of how product design rescued the Finn economy after crisis in the past, just as how high-end technology has done recently.
As a product designer, I'm wondering if I can find a job in that field in Finland?
Since famous company like Iitala or Marimekko mainly produce designed products of renowned designers like Alto, Timo , Kaj. Do they actually give a chance for new designs from young designers like me? Even if they do, will it be a long term work , or just occasional part-time job? Or the young ones have to go all their way from the beginning ; be an entrepreneur, set up their own business and sell their designs?
In that case, how prospective the market is as they said that Finn do appreciate designed stuff, yet nowadays as compared to those much cheaper both mass-produced and designed products from China, will it still be a chance for us?
I always try to think too much and be very pessimistic somehow.
One more thing is that i'm also can do graphic, web design . It seems like everything turns into internet. Is it easier to find a job as a graphic designer, or web designer in Finland? I need to know so that i can really invest my time and my study on the most prospective field since they are very different and need practices.
Moreover, I really want to settle down in Finland and find a proper job here.
Thank you for reading.
Future of product Design in Finland?

The economy in Finland is not in a good shape, with much unemployment.zippo123 wrote:As a product designer, I'm wondering if I can find a job in that field in Finland?
This is not the time when companies are doing huge R&D investments.
Do you already speak Finnish fluently?
No matter what you will do, it is unlikely that you will find work without.
The Finnish IT job market is down since the near-suicide of Nokia 2 years ago.zippo123 wrote:One more thing is that i'm also can do graphic, web design . It seems like everything turns into internet. Is it easier to find a job as a graphic designer, or web designer in Finland?
And if you want to work in that field for Finnish customers, you must speak Finnish fluently.

yup, noone can expect what will happen in next five years. Yet, i'm studying product design now and feel very uncertain about finding a job ( I'm learning finnish also). I've thought of changing career into graphic or IT field which may bring about a better chance ? I used google translate for mol.fi, and most of the jobs' ads currently over there is about business or IT, i hardly ever found any job related to product design. I'm asking if anyone now in that field can tell how is that industry status?
