Price stamp changes?

Post by ilikepeanutbutter » Fri Jul 26, 2013 5:21 pm

I'm having brain farts today so I can't figure this out. I bought first class stamps in March that I still have. The price went from .75 to .85 cents. Does this mean that my old stamps are invalid or do I need to buy new stamps. I have just been sticking 2nd class stamps onto my letters to cover the missing postage and so far it's been working.

Thanks a bunch!

it depends if the stamps show the value in euros or just something like "1st class" (1 lk) written on them. If they show the class and not the value then there is no need to add extra stamps. When the price goes up it's a good idea to stock up on these kind of stamps just before the price rises. In the UK some shops had to ration stamps like this because people were buying them in bulk just before the (substantial) price rise.

How would they know if the stamp was bought before or after the price hike?

Thats why they advertise those as "ikimerkki" - you find one from the first batch from the 90's its still 1lk worth.

Only stamps with monetary value on them suffer from a price hike, so save your 2nd class stamps ;)
