Residence permit for work
Hi everyone,
It's still not that easy for me to understand things here in Finland, yet hope you guys can help give in your opinions which may get me closer to understanding what I should do next..my question really is about working in Finland)).
when I came to Finland I don't actually know anything about going to register for a residence permit/work permit before starting a work, I just started moving around searching a job and fortunately,I find a cleaning job where the boss told me to go for a tax-card and I went to the tax office, they only asked for my passport and I gave my travel document to them, they didn't ask me about my working contract and they gave me a tax card.then I went back to the company and met the boss,in my presents he called the to the tax office and ask them if I can work in Finland and they told him if I have tax card I can work,so he employed me..actually by that time I don't know anything about registrations before work, but now I get to know that it seems that was not best way to stay and work without a permit.
Now I want to register and apply for a residence permit for work, and my mind is telling me that I have already breached the law,so I am very worried and don't know how to do this without having any problem with the police or the authorities.
please,I need all your help to explain to me how I can register and apply for a permit after I have already gone wrong?
thanks in advance

Re: Residence permit for work
- EU just register with the police.
- Non EU: apply for a residence permit, stop working immediately (it is highly illegal to work without a valid RP), get a new working contract, prepare for a possible rejection.

The OP is a non-EU citizen and he has known for more than one and half months already that he's been violating the immigration law.Desert Skippers wrote:Hi everyone,

In the earlier thread there was some uncertainty if he could be classified as a "specialist", but with the job description given above, even that part is now clear

Is there anyone there to help? I will be glad if you could help clarify this for me now, thanks

I did stopped the work and I want to prepare a new contract and then to register as fresh..or do they still had to find out what I had already done in Finland? what about if they know not if I have already worked in Finland?

Re: Residence permit for work
and again, one of my friends told me recently that I should immediatly travel out of Finland and then come back and apply for a residence permit..Is this possible about my situation?
Re: Residence permit for work
To get RP you need reason. Reason is usually: work, study, family. If you aim to work RP then you have to have the work lined up. Problem is that the employer must show that there isn't anyone in Finland or EU to do that job. With current economic situation it is most likely that there would be, if we are talking about manual labour.Desert Skippers wrote:and again, one of my friends told me recently that I should immediatly travel out of Finland and then come back and apply for a residence permit..Is this possible about my situation?

Re: Residence permit for work
Thanks to you again.. Uffew, the RP is about work permit and my employer is ready to give me a work contract that I can use as a proof, but the problem of people in Finland who can do the same kind of job will play a serious role here because I know most definitely that many people are out there with finns RP looking for cleaning jobs..now,if I want to start application for the RP for work, where do I have to go first and where next??

Re: Residence permit for work
it must be common,i dont think its your fault that you received a taxcard.they only asked for my passport and I gave my travel document to them, they didn't ask me about my working contract and they gave me a tax card.then I went back to the company and met the boss,in my presents he called the to the tax office and ask them if I can work in Finland and they told him if I have tax card I can work,so he employed me..
its a strange system that allows a person access to a taxcard , yet the info to understand your rights is online somewhere.

And if there should be a question from them about if I have ever worked in Finland before? do I have to reveal to them that I was working sometime in Finland before?

If they ask, come clean.Desert Skippers wrote:And if there should be a question from them about if I have ever worked in Finland before? do I have to reveal to them that I was working sometime in Finland before?
Lying in your application is a guarantee for rejection.
