They have a similar test in the UK. You need to be able to count change from a fiver if the item costs 1.80... (I could understand that been a serious question at the time there were 21 shillings to a guinea and 20 to a pound)
Haven't been sent to training yet, except for a CV writing workshop (where they made the assessment tests)... no English class either...

Having said that, I feel that I am getting something out of the course and I do enjoy the uniqueness of the language. I love that I can now 'read' some newspaper articles, see what's on TV and follow some Finnish subtitles.
