Hi forum,
I have read about the military service in Finland on: (http://www.finlex.fi/fi/laki/kaannokset ... 071438.pdf) and (http://www.puolustusvoimat.fi/wcm/ed054 ... OD=AJPERES). However, There're a statement that I need to confirm about, and these statements are as follows:
"Call-up candidates include every male citizen of Finland who: and has not yet turned 30 years of age or will turn 30 during the call-up year,".
"Conscription liability in peacetime ends at the end of the year in which the person liable for military service turns 30 years of age.".
"Person may, however, be assigned to military service if he moves to Finland before the end of the year in which he turns 30 years old.".
Based on the aforementioned statements, My question is: Assuming that a person has turned 30 on 1st of August 2013 and he has been granted the Finnish citizenship on 5th of August 2013 - Will he be assigned to military service ?
Thanks in advance !

Usually I would agree with that, but having seen a 28yo DI with wife and children doing their time in army...onkko wrote:BUT if you have possibility to go and you plan to stay in finland then GO

One should never avoid military service (except if the situation is not in favor). It looks good in CV, and as a foreign origin you can be proud about it.
