question on residence permit

Post by Arif Shah » Tue Aug 13, 2013 4:56 pm

Hi,

I tried to search this question on immigration website but could not find an answer. Basically I am here on a work permit and my wife is on a residence permit. We both have our permits till end of 2016

My baby was born here few months ago and now I am going to apply for his residence permit. From what I understand, we need to have atleast 2200 euros per month in order to get residence permit for my child

Now here is the problem. I have lost my job few months ago and we both (my wife and myself) are getting 1400 euros per month from Kela. Even though our combined income is not 2200 euros, we have enough savings in bank account to survive here for atleast an year even if I dont get kela or a job. I have applied in a few places for a job but I am not sure how long will it take for another job

Now the question is will my baby's residence permit be rejected? I mean what does it mean if my wife and myself have a residence permit but our baby's RP gets rejected? Does it mean they want to tell us that our baby cannot live here but we can? Or does it mean our permits can also be cancelled? I mean I want to understand this point legally?

It will be helpful if someone has faced this situation before and knows what to do in this situation.

Thanks
Shah

The Finnish Immigration website says

"The granting of a residence permit requires that your livelihood in Finland is secured through means other than benefits paid by the state. Your livelihood must be secured, for example, through the wage income of the sponsor residing in Finland or through self-employed income."

So If one does not have a job and has enough saving in bank account, does that make the livelihood secure enough to get residence permit for the child? or Is a monthly income necessary?

A monthly income is not required n all cases:
E.g. for a student for getting a 1 year Residence Permit no income is required, but it is required that he has the full amount for the 1 year in his own bank account.

If you want to get information on the chances of an application for your child, you should ask Migri.
