Hei, I wanted to know if my Permanent Residence permit will expire right away (i.e automatically) as soon as positive decision has been taken on my citizenship application? Or will it expire after I accept the decision and/or apply for my Finnish passport?
Thanks!!
PR after citizenship decision
Re: PR after citizenship decision
You already accepted becoming a Finnish citizen by applying for citizenship, and after a positive decision has been made you are a Finnish citizen immediately.pav32324 wrote:after I accept the decision and/or apply for my Finnish passport?
Citizenship with all rights and duties does not depend on whether you ever apply for a Finnish passport.

Your PR expires when you become a "Finn". So in principle, if you intend to travel with your foreign passport, your RP is invalid, so you can travel with it as if there was no visa in it. You are a Finnish Citizen - but you need to "prove" that.. with a Finnish passport.
So, if you have a driver's licence - you can go to Sweden. Thats the only benefit. Otherwise you need to get an ID card to go to Schengen (like Estonia) or Passport to go to UK or places foreign and ride on the "EU Citizen"....
