Shipping to Australia

Post by case » Thu Jun 27, 2013 9:05 pm

Does anybody have experience shipping their stuff from Finland to Australia? Costs, company name, etc?

Most things would be relatively small (no furniture), such as kitchen items, clothing, linen, shoes and so on. I am trying to decide whether its worth shipping some stuff compared to buying new things all over again in Australia or not. And the time it takes to actually go and get the stuff again has to be considered.

Hey, i would definitely look at hiring out a container to move your belongings. I have family in Australia and they say its very expensive to buy things there compared to the EU. I don't know the rates or anything but maybe search google for a container, shipping by sea would be way cheaper than air. My cousin sent 20kgs last year from EU to Aus by air (which got there in 10 days) and it cost him 200 euro and for only 20 kg it seemed a little expensive to me, but I might be wrong. Needs investigating and research for sure. My only advice, don't rely on buying everything again in Aus because I've heard its quite expensive there compared to EU. hope that helps, goodluck :)

I know you can get a price on one pellet, but make sure the price is to aus port. The second pellet comes in cheaper.
You may have to pay a pellet packing fee.

Thanks for the replies.

I also did some research and its certainly expensive, so now thinking we simply pay for an extra bag (20kg or so) on our flight and that's all. We only lived in Finland for a year and don't have much of real value, it was more a matter of comparing the cost of shipping compared to the inconvenience of replacing some items.
