Do I need to take appointment in advance or I can just go to Maistraatti and translate it into English?

SKTL (The Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters) has a translator search system: http://www.sktl.fi/in-english/search/extensive-search/

Choose "Authorised translators" in the search box.

I'm sure the translator can tell you how the apostille works if you need it.

Doesn't notary public in Finland translate certificates?
