Fruit picking is an option, but for obvious reasons only for 3 months per year.

Except for nurses and perhaps doctors, Finland is not seeking workers from anywhere - Finland is focusing more on trying to help the many young Finns affected by youth unemployment in Finland.

I do not know why it's a problem if I'm on the Swedish forum looking for some answers ... Many of those workers (for example Estonians) still live in their native country and just come here to do the projects. Yes, plenty of foreigners do those jobs. Maybe they are fields where the forum regulars don't have much experience in. For many those deals only make sense because with the low salaries when they live crammed together with other people in small apartments etc in order to keep their costs down. I do not have idea how competed those jobs are for people applying now (foreigners getting those jobs previously does not mean the case is the same now).

A lot of those jobs are constructions through a foreign company. Building and construction is an example.

We just had someone from Slovenia on the forum also wanting to move with no job, money, housing etc. I'm in Slovenia at the moment, salaries are lower, for sure, but spending power is actually higher in my opinion. I know things are tough in Croatia at the moment and can understand your frustration, but coming here with limited funds, no job and no home is really not a great idea. You will NOT be able to get social welfare money and you are not a refugee because you are in the EU. I don't know why people think that coming to Scandinavia will solve all their problems - there is unemployment in Finland for native, finnish speakers with degrees from finnish universities. How will you compete? And if you have a masters degree, do you really want to be a bus driver in Malmo or some far north town in Finland? You speak english, what about Britain? Come to Finland if you want to, and tell us if you find a job, flat etc.within 20 days.

If he is eligible for unemployment benefits in Croatia, he should have the right to continue getting them from Croatia for 3 months while searching for a job in another EU country.

But even in this case, he would have no money and no job after the 3 months...

You speak english, what about Britain?

Well, yes and no. He can come in for that 2 weeks (well up to 3 months) to find a job, but the employer must get a sponsor number for a "work authorisation" a.k.a. "purple card" unless the OP is nobel prize material when he can apply for a "blue card". So its a bit easier, but for 12 months you're quite stuck.

The social security in Croatia is less than 170€ per month - if you are entitled to it, so getting benefits transferred will keep him in beer for a week or so...... Regarding working in the UK, if he is highly qualified and speaks english, he might be able to get a job, permit etc.... More likely than a job in Finland I'd say..........

In Finland he can just come and has the right to start working immediately (if against all odds he manages to find a job).

In the UK he would after finding a job have to go through some visa-like system first - and his application might also be rejected there.

You chose the right time to arrive, just before the winter
Summer jobs are advertised as early as in March, but winter jobs ?? Perhaps you can throw snow from the roofs of buildings, also black labour of this type is available, but of course no insurence, nothing. A bit dangerous to say the least.

Finland seem to be the choice for many, as social system "keeps" these type of immigrants on benefits, not encouraging them to work at all, just sit at home and draw the unemployment benefits, once entitled for it.
The will put on the socalled Integration Program, which is to enroll you to school studying Finnish language, places are not enough, after that they dont help you at all, just say check on the website for work.

How will you live till you get yourself established here ??? Where will you stay? Your only option is to find someone to share a matchbox size home.
