Hi,
Migri is encouraging people to apply for citizenship applications online "aiming for a five month processing time".
How far is this true? Please share your experiences who have tried e-service specially in the late 2012 or first half of 2013 and how quick you got a response.
According to the press release: http://www.migri.fi/for_the_media/bulle ... on_service
the number of citizenship applications submitted online between January to April 2013 were just 180 while total submitted applications between January to June 2013 were 4340.
If e-service really promised quick processing time, I was expecting online users hit the numbers.
E-Citizenship application
Re: E-Citizenship application
Assuming the application is accurate, the decision is anyway often made within around six months.
When applying at Migri from within Finland, the time advantage of e-service is only a few days at most.

Re: E-Citizenship application
Hi,
I applied for citizenship online in December 2012 and got the decision in April: it took 4 months and 2 days.
Al I had to do: fill in the application online and attach all the required documents (scanned as pdf). Next day I was at the police office in Pasila and show all originals (for the docs I submitted online). After that wait! After that my situation has changed (got married, changed my job) so I scanned again the docs and attached them to my application online (this time I haven't been to police anymore). I never called them, they never called or ask anything else. After I got the decision one week later I got the "invitation" to the army (I skipped it)... so prepare yourself for this if you haven't done it in your former home country.
I think was fast and no issues ... but of course this will depend for every case and situation (accurate application or not).
Good luck and YES do it online!

Re: E-Citizenship application
Thanks Alex.Sm for the info. Someone else also told me it took 4 months for his "accurate" application to be processed.
So seems like online application is actually faster may be not by few days but perhaps weeks, than paper application unless those applications are also being processed quickly these days.
