hiya all,

Is there any known definition of "gross misconduct" at workplace? e.g. either by European community law, or even by Finnish laws? some definite pointers would be helpful.

Don't know about EU, but theres pretty much the straight dope:

I think one of those would translate as "gross misconduct" ... I think the one of beating your boss up maybe?


I'd say use of "common sense" would avoid many problems.... like photographing the hotdog between your asscherks should be grounds for firing on grounds of "utter stupidity"...

You could check Chapter 8 of the Employment Contracts Act. An unofficial translation is available here:

Do note that it's some years behind in including amendments.
