Sorry, can't help you in this matter but just asking out of curiosity, how much is it in death costs these days on average?

Like Mr.nalle Wahlroos said when he shuffeled his latest millions inside: some customers are just dirt on the floor. IMO you should put in your will explicite that you want a certain amount for your son. Then get via a bank a long term account, min. one year fixed. This means visiting several banks to see options. Also a foreign account might be an option but they mostly do not want to see you for a couple of thousands. Decent funeral costs about 2k and up,cremation ofcourse cheaper.

Would it be possibe to open an account in my sons name and make a regular payments to there, as I am afraid any debts would be taken from an account in my name upon death!
Re: Good savings account
Quite possible. But when he's 18 he can decide what to do with it.bm50 wrote:Would it be possibe to open an account in my sons name and make a regular payments to there,
Re: Good savings account
You might need some evidence that he is your son , otherwise moneylaundering rules will prohibit it.

Yes but do note that for the money to properly be his you must take care of handling gift tax:bm50 wrote:Would it be possibe to open an account in my sons name and make a regular payments to there, as I am afraid any debts would be taken from an account in my name upon death!

Savings accounts these days will not beat inflation. Best returns I have seen are places like TF Bank that take savings in order to give out consumer loans. Currently their interest rate is at 1.8%.
