Consumer right - Suitcase

Post by carolarebelo » Thu Oct 24, 2013 4:14 pm

Dear all,

I would like to have some info about the consumer right in Finland, specially related to the situation below. I tried to get some information, but sometimes it is easier when people tell how things work in practice here.

Some months ago, I flew with Finnair and when I was back to Finland, I realized I had a hole in my suitcase that a hand finger could go through. I complained with Finnair and they said I should bring it to their repair service. I brought it to the repair shop of Stockman, as instructed by them. They simply put a black melted rubber over the hole. My suitcase is blue and the fixing is horrible. I complained in Stockman and they tried to make it better, but unfortunately it just got worse than before.

After that I started complaining with Finnair because I think they should give me a new suitcase because I still have a damage. In the country where I come from, the fact that the consumer still has a damage is enough to claim what I am claiming. I was even in touch with lawyers friends of mine in my home country. But here it seems not enough reasoning. The company denies by any chance to fully pay for the damage they made in my suitcase, so I can buy a new one.

I would like to know if there is a consumer rights institution or organization in Finland for helping and instructing consumers. Do they help the consumers in those cases? Is it necessary to sue the company to get your rights here? Any information could be a great help.

Thank you!
