Residence Permit Extension and Credit rating

Post by poornima.menon » Mon Oct 21, 2013 4:19 am

Hello All,
I am about to apply for my residence permit extension, but the problem is that I have got a low credit rating and a payment fault entry. My husband is permanently employed here and I live here on a dependent visa.So I would like to know that will there be any chances of rejection due to my low credit rating and payment fault entry?

Thanks

I had a complex reply typed but the browser timed out and i lost it.
This cheesy .fi page has the Payment default entry as something that can be searchable.
Basically you have resisted paying a debt and your legal status is that of a sponsored Family Member.

Payment default entry

A payment default entry, in other words a poor credit record, will adversely affect your life in many ways. Generally it means that you will be requested to return your credit and bank cards (except for a cash machine card), you will find it difficult to receive credit, you will not be able to enter into hire-purchase agreements and you will be asked to provide security or an advance payment for your telephone connection and insurance agreements. In addition, obtaining a rental apartment will be problematic, and jobs with financial responsibility will be closed to you.

Late payment alone, however, does not result in a payment default entry straight away. A payment default entry may be recorded in a credit record if a consumer credit payment is overdue by over 60 days, a court has delivered a collection judgment, enforcement measures have found you to be indigent (i.e. without means), or you have been granted a private individual's debt restructuring or you are in a voluntary debt restructuring.

Payment default entries generally remain on a credit record for 2-4 years, but any new entry will extend this period. Paying the debt during the period shortens it to two years.

Visa is for visiting, up to three months. Residence Permit is for residing.

I think if you are not facing any criminal charges there shouldn't be any problem. You will have problems where ever money/credit issues are involved but residence permit is not one of them (in my opinion).
