What would you like to do with your friends? Is there something you like to do on your freetime? Are you looking for friends or more like just regular to chat with and practise finnish or what?

Exactly. I want to spend sometime with people (who speaks finnish) whenever it's possible. I want to learn the language. To me the best possible way to learn is by speaking. Everyday I am learning words, I am reading stories, newspaper little by little. Right now I am going to finnish classes, listening to finnish lessons, reading text...every thing is fine, but now the problem is that I want to speak. This way I learn fast and more.

Facebook for a group that suits. You name it and there will be a group for it.

Ilmonet.fi for adult education courses, again there are courses for just about everything! You might be too late for the autumn courses, don't despair a whole new set start in the new year.

Check the notice boards at the library, supermarket or työnväenopisto - people often post looking for other people sharing the same interests.

Go to a language course taught in English, volunteer to help someone studying your language, try to find some sport clubs as someone requested. It also depends on the city where you are living in, I know in Turku they have this program to bring Finnish people/families together with foreigners. A sort of friendship program. If you have some special hobbies they might help. Also, the internet. I think many of those "nerds" spending most of their time in there are actually ready to discuss their interests with people from all over the world.

In Helsinki libraries there are several language cafes arranged for practising spoken Finnish.
In Pasila Library the Language Cafe Suoma meets on Wednesdays at 14:00 and a smaller inofficial group on Mondays at 14:00.
