applying for masters in finland

Post by pradeep1001 » Thu Dec 12, 2013 2:56 am

Hi,

I know the universities in Finland rate prior education the most during admission evaluation. However during my bachelor studies
, I have failed once in one paper and later clearing it in the next semester. Will this affect my chances in getting admission for masters in Finland? In the mark sheet it says fail and later as pass in the next semester.

Now I have 7 years of IT experience and a good track record.
Let me know my chances

Thanks in advance.

That depends. But personally, I too once failed a class during my Bachelors and retook it next semester (and that is indicated on my transcript). Still got accepted. So, while all factors affect your chances of admission a retake does not definitively keep you out.

I don't think you will have any problem.

In many countries, due to the nature of the university education organization, it is quite typical to fail tests and exams and then retake them.

For example, in Poland, Italy or Spain, in Engineering studies, about a 50% of the students fail the exams the first time they take them.

I think your qualifications, interests, overall grade and participation in projects has way more value than if you ever failed a course.

However, if you can get a transcript of records where the failed times do not appear (they do them in some universities), your credentials will look better :)
