TV Purchase or Import

Post by mahwish » Sat Dec 28, 2013 1:30 am

Hello

I want to buy a good smart TV by paying full price(not on installments) between 40-50 inch(not more than that). Can someone suggest a good deal if they know in places such as Prisma, Expert, Sokos, Stockmann, Giganti, Verkokauppa, Antilla etc? I keep seeing them also.
1. Can someone suggest me good price comparison websites in Finland for TV shopping?
2. I buy some stuff like food, electronics, toys etc from Amazon UK. I bought a Sony laptop from them last year. It is a surprise that they do not ship to Finland when it comes to TV. Can someone suggest to me a UK/EU site where they will ship to Finland?I guess prices in other EU countries will be much cheaper compared to Finland. It is only my opinion.
3.Will I become liable to pay the TV license if I buy a new TV?Do they take your name and address at the shop and send it to TV Licensing authority? What is the rule about this? How much a TV license costs per year? But the main question is that do u buy the TV license yourself or do they send your details to the authorities automatically or by law from where you buy a new TV?I shall watch only movies from my DVD player and some streaming foreign channels through youtube/dailymotion etc. I shall not watch or subscribe to any services of Finland. Do I still have to pay the license fee? Watching youtube/dailymotion etc. is not watching TV in my opinion.

Please guide me about these.

Best Regards
Mahwish

The TV's are not that different in price. I paid less for my 46" samsung from gigantti than in the UK. It depends who's selling the TV. If gigantti then watch for price drops (mine was 699 discounted from regular 1099), they can be quite competitive with other countries. If it's a high end model (Finns don't buy many of these) then the prices can stay high and no deep cuts at the end of model life since there are not that many to clear from stock (since they never stocked that many of the high end models in the first place).

TV licence fee disappeared a while ago. Now everyone pays a tax regardless whether they have a tv or not.
