intoxicated arrival

Post by wolf80 » Sat Dec 28, 2013 10:46 pm

Hi

I'm a foreigner living in Helsinki. I have to fly around Europe a lot, and often fly via Amsterdam when returning to Helsinki, and normally with enough time between connecting flights to visit the city for some hours. I saw that when arriving in Helsinki there is always a customs officer with a drug-sniffing dog, especially for the flights from Amsterdam.

So, let's say, theoretically, I would visit a coffeeshop in Amsterdam and smoke a bit, and then fly to Helsinki immediately afterwards. I guess the drug dog would smell it, the trace amounts that stay in hair and clothing. But, would that have any other consequences except for a thorough search of my person and luggage? Would it be a problem to arrive "intoxicated" in Helsinki?

cheers,
Chris

I certainly do not remember such news, nor is getting stoned abroad an offense against Finnish penal code. I'd very much also expect that (as simple practical issue) the dog training would not aim at picking up everybody who have just visited a coffee shop.

If your luggage and possessions are clear nothing to worry about. Dog is probably trained to smell the stuff that has not been smoked yet. You might have a problem on the other side - I have seen a flight attendant to refuse a passenger get on the plane because he was drunk (Finnish guy).

What about those who are drunk and stoned at the same time? :)
