what kinda restaurant? looking at the restaurants that are on sale might give u an idea. Location, size etc. matter the most. For some restaurants even 100,000 mightn't be enough for rent in advance while in other places, for some restaurants e.g. pizzeria, it might be sufficient to start whole business then and there with that amount.

I'm talking about a restaurant that will offer specific food. (This is just an example: in a italian restaurant you italian specific food not chinese. So the food will be specific to a country  ). And wanted to know more about premises costs, licenses, and so forth. The location is Helsinki (probably not in the center) and the place should have 40-60 seats.

This is just an idea, nothing put on plan yet because definitely I will not start just like that without any research, and proper planning.

I just wanted to know how is going with the premises and I think buying/renting a restaurant is better. But based on buying/renting:
- if you buy a restaurant, do you still have to apply all licenses from the beginning? what about if you rent the place?
- how is going with the machines inside (fridge, oven) do you buy them or rent them? (I mean if you need some specific machine)
- about alcohol, can you import (from EU) directly some specific wines and spirits if you don't find them in Finland? (I guess yes)

Kiitos!

P.S. roger_roger:
Capital of Ivory Coast is Yamoussoukro but people also say that Abidjan is the capital (from the economy point of view).
Pretty much the same about Italy, Rome is capital but Milano is the economical capital.

BTW: why don't you focus in getting a job so you will continue paying the TV license tax?

I once flirted with the idea of opening a fast food restaurant myself but ditched the idea in its initial phase for some reasons.
a. as far as I know, if you employe someone who has a permit to sell alcohol, that's about it-you can sell alcohol in your restaurant
b. leasing if you are cashed stripped....
c. you can buy alcohol from anywhere.. it's just that you will have to pay the taxes, duties etc. I don't think there's any restrictions for imports but level of alcohol is somewhat regularted if it's meant for restaurants!?

but anyway, you should consult with right people for details and meanwhile you can google more.......... there's a ravintolaopas somewhere, i am sure :)

add 2: I have a feeling that if you visit työkkäri, you can find whole lot of info and other help from there!
