I am divorced, have been for some years.
I don't have the numerous papers I got from wherever, which were exactly the same and which kept coming over some period of time. Besides, they're in Finnish, so they can't help me.
I need some kind of divorce certificate to take home to my own country to prove I am divorced.
I thought you'd get it from the Maistraatti and you could apply for it online? I'm not having any luck finding anything.
What if you are living in another "kunta" from the one your divorce was granted? Does it matter? Would I have to contact the original kunta?
Thanks!

Re: Divorce Papers
The population register extract can be ordered online here:
http://www.suomi.fi/suomifi/suomi/asioi ... index.html
Marriage status is included in the extract. It's possible to get the extract in English. If you want to be 100% sure that you have the needed papers, I would also order the divorce decision from the district court and have it translated and apostilled/legalized. You can order the decision with email. You can find the email through the listing here by following the link for the municipality where you were located when you divorced:

You can get from the käräjäoikeus that gave your final verdict a fancy Eu- directive divorce certificate, apostilled and all. Its in English and all languages and probably klingon too... It helps if you have the case number when calling them up.
