hello,
Two girls approached me in the kamppi bussiasema and told that they were planning to go to tampere, They explained the train is going to leave in 15 minutes and they couldnot get enough money to buy tickets starting from the previous day. They almost cried that they're going to die of hunger. They speak only a little bit english but they do communicate. I was to give them some coins but instead they proposed that i give them some money and with a promise they'll put it in my bank. I never had encountered people from helsinki cheating before, so did trust them and provide them money they wanted. and took their phone numbers. After some hours,I txt them they replied they're in train. Good. but the Next day No more reply.

again, again.
Should I blame myself?

I didn't have an experience of attempt at cheating me in Finland, but why Finland should be any different? I've been approached by Finnish beggars quite a few times, blatantly asking for money (not trying to cheat me, at least it seemed like this as they only talked in Finnish and I wasn't willing to go on with the conversation anyway). Since there are scroungers around (surprise!), why not try to get money by cheating, as well? Don't blame yourself, now you learned something

Well, the only money I gave so far was for the veterans when I see soldiers on the streets or to Pelastusarmeija once anybody else can go and work themselves! In fact has happened sometimes some youngsters 12-15 years asking some coins (2€) but nobody with this scam story. However in your position I will have went to train station and buy them the tickets, or ask for their family phone numbers and give them a call. Nobody in Finland will die of hunger, maybe of stupidity but not of hunger.
Was it a big sum of money you gave thme? I will assume about 80€? I don't know what chances are for you to get your money back and prove it that in fact you gave them the money ... Maybe go to police, you have their phone numbers ...

No such experience. I tell them I got card, or simply redirect them to nearest salvation army office or to church.

Yes, it is difficult to resist those tears and crying and sobbing, specially coming from females but you gotta be strong. Just imagine they are sitting at some café, eating pie and laughing at a naive who gave them money without thinking twice. This also happens when you can't resist the female charms
or were you thinking abo

so you not only gave them some money on the spot but also your bank account details as well!! what about the keys to your car and passport or telling them when you're next out of town and your house empty ? In english the saying goes "a fool and their money are soon parted".

They are given in every invoice. Good luck getting money out of your bank's cc-bill.

Well, you got screwed. If they'd met some other less gentle man, they'd gotten screwed.

Next time you meet someone like that use "i will call police to help you" and of course ask them to wait with you while authorities come and see how fast they flee. If underage kid is is in distress like that there is guaranteed help from protection services.

Have you checked your bank account? If not go to police, they probably didn't expect you to do that, otherwise they would not have replied your text message.
