Posti (Itella) Item Tracking Outside Finland ?

Hi Forum,

I sent an international priority mail and of course they gave me the item code to be able to track it on: (http://www.posti.fi/itemtracking/posti/ ... hipment_id). Well, The service is good, it shows how my item has moved between different Finnish cities, However, It arrived to Location: HKI VANTAA, ULKOMAANTERMINAALI 01000 and the status stuck at "Item has left country.".

Will I be able to continue tracking my item and see it moving till it reaches its final destination? Or, Is this service ONLY covers the tracking on the Finnish soil and nothing after that ?

If you know (or can guess) which foreign/international parcel company took over the delivery once the parcel left the country, maybe Itella’s code will work in their tracking service. The reverse has sometimes been true: I have been able to use a “foreign” parcel company’s tracking code in Itella’s tracking service once the package entered Finnish soil and Itella took over. (The foreign/international company cooperating with Itella might have been DHL in this case, but I’m not sure any longer.)

Not usually if you have used the local tracking system.

You normally have to use a special tracking type to follow it overseas. Like EMS or something. Or if you are paying for one of those other special services etc.

I sent a parcel to Germany last year and could use the Finnish Posti-tracking number with the German Post.de-site.
But it was stuck for quite some time first in HKI VANTAA, ULKOMAANTERMINAALI and after that in Hamburg. Both services gave the same information more or less at the same time.
So, if you know the name/homepage of the service provider in the destination country, as Jukka suggested, just try it.

I did a little search on the Posti site, because I had a couple of items lost after they left Finland, and tracking is offered for some specific countries only. Germany is one of them, from what I remember.

I was able to track items sent to Sweden.
