Fonecta and how to find people.

I just wanted to know if it is worthy to sign up in the page fonecta and pay the registration fee. It is the only fee that one should pay, or I should pay more fees to find people. How does it work?

Also I would like to know if I signed up... thenwill I receive spam in my phone or email?

Following this further I have read in this forum about the robinson lists in Finland. However, when I have inquired a little bit further in this topic I have found out that a service like that has also a fee. Am I wrong?

Besides, I would like to appear in fonecta. I think it is a good thing to be able to be localizable. Right now I am not there although I have a phone contract. Well, it is not me the holder of the contract it is my gf. When I landed in finland I didn't have henkilötunnus so she made me a phone contract at her nam because she had Henkilötunnus at that moment and a bank account. In the following week I will make an bank account and I already have henkilötunnus. Would be possible for me to change the name in the contract... or at least in the phone directory?

Finally... I want to ask if it is possible to find the phone number or at least the address of someone using his/her henkilötunnus. A few days ago she found a walled in the middle of the forest road on her way to university... We walled was full of cards with the name of the holder and on some of his henkilötunnus. We were looking in Fonecta, but he didn't appear. She left a note where she found the walled with her phone number and the guy finally show up... However it would have been great if we could have found the guy on internet by his henkilötunnus. We thought that information was public in the Nordic Countries.

I think it costs 30 cents or so for registration and that's it! On phone at least that is.

haven't received any spams/emails from foneca ever.

Besides, I would like to appear in fonecta.

You should mention that to your mobile operators e.g. DNA, elisa etc.

Finally... I want to ask if it is possible to find the phone number or at least the address of someone using his/her henkilötunnus.

henkilötunnus is kinda private. If goods found-> police station.

It’s just one-time registration fee. There’s a monthly limit of inquiries, though. But it is sufficiently high you’re not likely to ever hit it as a private person.

You can use your Fonecta login id/password both on their website and in their free “Fonecta Caller” Android/iOS app.

Yes, they will charge €0.39 per minute, in addition to the normal phone charge, when you call up to register. No other fees apply. The registration needs to be done once per phone number and it lasts three years. I think they had a voice-controlled “robot” at the other end... you were required to repeat aloud some word which confirms your registration.

The number is probably listed in Fonecta right now with your girlfriend’s information, unless she checked the box which makes the number unlisted when signing the contract.

Yes, of course... and that’s a sensible thing to do, as you can then manage your bills and other information in their online self-service portal. They will charge you €3.93 for such change. You can do it either by calling their call center or by visiting a dealer. See here:

On the flip side of this, can anyone tell me how I can get my name listing off of fonecta and other publicly available white pages? I have a mobile phone account from saunalahti and I do not want to be listed. I don't remember signing up for that. Is it a default thing they do for phone numbers here? I'd like to get myself delisted...any help?

Here's how you are able to get your directory listing off and on for a Saunalahti subscription:
Go to www.saunalahti.fi and choose "Oma Saunalahti"

Get a password to "Oma Saunalahti" at their website >> "Ei vielä tunnuksia tai tunnukset hukassa?" (In case you already don't have one)
You'll receive a pw via SMS.

Sign in to your subscription. Go to "Liittymät" (= Subscriptions).
Click on your number.

Click on "Muokkaa liittymän palveluita" (=Edit services for subscription)
On page "Tilaajapalvelut" you have "Liittymän julkisuus numerotiedustelussa" (=Visibility in directory services),
where you'll be able to choose between
Julkinen numero (Full visibility)
Salainen numero (Secret number, no visibility)
Julkinen numero, salainen osoite (Number visible, no address information)

Remember to confirm your changes by clicking on "Tee muutokset" on the bottom of the page.

No you don't. Or at least one stamp won't be enough. Registered letter or letter with advice of delivery is needed. 7,30€ and 10€.

Yes - understand - they can always say they never got it (a simple letter)

Re 'registered mail' - unfortunately there's a 'hole in the bucket' - one can only show that a letter of some type was sent - but there's no way to prove what letter or paper it was or what it said. Dishonest people and companies and agencies have been able to have registration ignored by just denying the contents. The only sure way in this case is to go to the office on Bulevardi and have 2 copies with you and ask for a signature on the copy you take away - and now I recall that's the way I did it.

Typically there’s an opt-out checkbox somewhere on the contract form.

But yes, listed phone numbers are the norm here... just like they were back in the heyday of landlines and printed phone books.

(The logic being, what’s the use of getting a phone number in the first place, commoner, if no-one can reach you. Unlisted personal phone numbers or non-disclosed street addresses used to be the domain of a select few celebs, the wealthy industrial magnates, top politicians, and the unfortunate random individuals who have a loony ex-spouse harassing them. You can look up everyone else in the phone book.)

I called to he sonera customer service and they change everything. You have to push the 3 after you call to access to the english customer service.
