Removing birthmarks

Anyone has any experience removing birthmarks/moles in Finland? Which doctor is it best to go to? Dermatologist, oncologist, gp first? I keep searching but seems like there's no dermatologist where I live . Also, how much could it cost to visit one?

A general doctor can do this too, although they might prefer to refer you to a dermatologist/plastic surgeon. Depends on the size of the birthmark & location, as well as if it looks clearly melanomic or just being removed for cosmetic reasons. The doctor will almost always send the sample to be checked for abnormal cells, unless you both decide that there is no chance of problems. Again, it depends on if you are worried about skin cancer, or just looking to get rid of an ugly spot.

Thanks for the replies! No, it's not for aesthetic reasons, I'm worried about skin cancer, so I guess I'll start with an appotment with gp.
