Bank Recommendations?
Bank Recommendations?
My spouse and I are looking to switch banks, due to poor customer service and LONG queues. The bank we currently have is N--dea. So I am coming here to see what banks you would recommend? What banks have you had good experiences with? And are there any you would stay away from? We are thinking about joining Danske Bank. Thanks ahead for your responce!

What kind of services you need to queue for?

Re: Bank Recommendations?
OP closed down my credit card while I was abroad. For a whole month (me still abroad), they refused to acknowledge that they had done it or if there was anything I could do. Turned out their credit card department had locked the card but not told any of the other departments in the bank (including the people in the internetbank helpdesk, the only people I had any way of contacting & proving who I was). Never got anything even remotely sounding like a "sorry". Switched banks faster than anything.

i'll suggest s-pankki,but beware you'll need a Finnish ID to open an account there. If you become a member of the s- group, you get free debit card and free banking. Moreover they usually have the same opening times as Prisma, which means late evening and saturdays availability.

I´d stay away from Aktia,
Since they moved from Nets providing their credit cards to doing it themselves they have been useless,
If I pay money to my Aktia visa card and my Nordea mastercard at the same time it shows on my Nordea account about 2 days before my Aktia visa!

Re: Bank Recommendations?
I have everything with Nordea: current account, savings, loans, business etc and we've been pretty pleased with the service we get. On the other hand, we use Netbank for almost everything so we rarely ever walk into the bank. Nordea's netbank has a full-English version, all the Help functions are also in English and that's a big plus for me. I guess I have had to queue once or twice (our local branch is in a big shopping mall so it's quite busy) but I can cope with queuing once or twice a year.
I agree with Cory, it might be better to move branch rather than change banks (which is always a hassle).

With net bank you never go into the branches,so you must not be eligible for it yet, i suspect all banks are the same if you dont have netbanking.Tkrg wrote:My spouse and I are looking to switch banks, due to poor customer service and LONG queues. I have had a few run ins at nordea, but only because i wasnt aware of normal policy items.I like the jumbo branch in vantaa, easy parking, friendly middle aged woman

To be brutally honest though, if your a non english speaking foreigner and your Finnish hasnt appeared yet , then you can have problems.
