Which one is Healthier?

Post by Samer2010 » Wed Feb 26, 2014 9:14 pm

Hi Forum,

Talking about butter :) Unfortunately, I live in a very small city and there aren't many choices. In your opinion which option is Safer/Healthier:

Option A: Organic/Luomu Butter/Voi: It sad that NONE of those are grass-fed butter, I personally contacted all the brands (Including: Juustoportti Luomu kirnuvoi) and they confirm that their butter is made out of organic milk. Simply they will NOT disclose what kind of food do they feed their cows, and am NOT questioning their authenticity, yeah probably they feed their cows organic corns/grains.

Option B: I found a butcher (An old and nice Finnish man who sells fresh meats) is selling homemade butter, The guy hardly speaks English, But I understood from him that this butter is homemade by Finns too, and he gets it every couple of weeks. Obviously, I extremely doubt if this is a grass-fed butter because we are in winter and there is no grass.

Well, I tried all of them (All the organic brands & the homemade one), The taste is quite acceptable for all of them and I have no preference at all, I feel they all taste pretty much the same.

So, In your personal thought which option maybe more Healthier than the other? What your choice would be?

Thanks !

Like you said, do you see cows eating grass outside right now? If the butter is certified organic it means that whatever the cows eat has to be organic, too. But (fresh) grass fed year round... how exactly would that be possible here? There are some imported butters, perhaps there would be some that are from grass fed cows.

But... do you really eat that much butter that it would make one bit of difference? Or if you want to go with what is more healthful... use less butter. What is healthful is not some absolute A is more healthful than B... there are so many variables, and what the cows are fed is only one small part of it.

Why don't you make your own? its not hard...
But what shall it profit a people if they satisfy all material desires, but leave for their children nothing, only a wasteland.
